Hi, I'm Hannah

One year ago I left my corporate job of 4 years to pursue...something. What exactly I did not yet know, but I knew I needed to carve out my own path in the world. I began working as a bartender and using my free time in the mornings to focus on creative outlets. I sewed my own clothes, refinished furniture, planted gardens, and learned to make jewelry. Jewelry in particular became a favorite pastime of mine, because it was so relaxing to make and expressive to wear.

When Life Gives You Lemons...

...you dehydrate them, encase them in resin, and turn then into jewelry, right? Well that's what I did at least. While I was working at the bar I began experimenting with using real fruit to make cocktail garnish inspired earrings. These were a huge hit with customers and coworkers alike. I didn't start out making jewelry with any intention to turn into a business, but when several people started asking if they could buy a pair of my fruit earrings, I couldn't help but think the world was giving me a nudge to head down this new path.

Why I keep going

The Search for Authenticity

With the world full of fast fashion, dropshipping, and AI generated art, I found myself constantly looking for things that felt genuine. I wanted products and content that were focused on care and craftsmanship, not consumerism and capital. During this search, I found the easiest way to find authenticity was by making it yourself. So, I made Stepping Stone with 3 core pillars to insure authenticity would always be found here.

Those pillars are: by hand, from nature, and for you.

  • By Hand

    Each Stepping Stone product is 100% handcrafted from my home studio in Missouri. Every piece of fruit is hand sliced, every gemstone is individually hand picked, and every clasp is hand fastened. No two pieces bought from Stepping Stone will be exactly the same, however, ensuring the beauty, balance, quality of every piece is of utmost importance.

  • From Nature

    These pieces are not only inspired by, but are made from the natural beauty all around us. Honoring and protecting nature are goals of equal importance to me. With the business still in it's infancy, current sustainability practices are focused on reducing waste, repurposing materials, and avoiding overconsumption. However, as Stepping Stone grows, so will it's conservation efforts.

    Without you, Stepping Stone's journey would be a very short one. Without the support and encouragement I've received, I wouldn't even have made it as far as to making this website. For the early support, and all the support I am yet to receive, I am extremely grateful. Everything I make will reflect that gratitude through quality and attention to detail.
